What I learned: SOOO MUCH. It was amazing.
With FOCUS we fundraise our salaries 100%. The idea of undertaking this mission terrifies me. And today I found out just why. One presenter gave 4 views that scare me and prevent me from being successful in my fundraising, called Mission Partner Development (MPD).
(1) How I view God.
-An important question to ask yourself is, "How big is my God?"
-Do I not ask him for big things because I do not believe he can do them.
(2) How I view my mission.
-I am not going on a college campus in order to lead Bible Studies, have Discipleship relationships with women, or to do hands-on evangelization to the students. Rather, I am called to this mission in order to change the world for Christ.
-Do I believe that FOCUS is in line with God's will to fulfill the Great Commission? Yes.
--When FOCUS was first being formed Curtis Martin, the founder, gathered with a few missionaries to discuss the future of FOCUS. He prayed that the Lord would show them His will for FOCUS, and that if FOCUS was not in His plan that He would crush FOCUS. Afther that total surrender to the will of God and that prayer FOCUS flourished.
-FOCUS' ultimate mission is to bring people to Christ. That is what my life's work ought to be.
(3) How I view myself.
-This was perhaps the hardest one to evaluate. Sometimes I doubt my role as a missionary. However, God has called me to serve as a missionary. God has called me to fulfill His Great Commission through FOCUS.
-I must say to myself, and to my potential donors, "I am a good investment."
-I must realize how important I am in the conversion of the world.
-It is greater to give than to receive. Will I allow my family and friends the opportunity to give in such an important way?
-I need to see myself as God sees me. He loves me not because of what I do, but for who I am.
(4) How I view my donors (mission partners)
-We are all called to fulfill the Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations.
-If I partner with an individual in Auburn I am bringing them with me on my mission to bring souls to Christ. If I partner with a family at St. Michael's I am providing a means for them to answer Christ's call in their lives to be missionaries.
-Finally, asking individuals to partner with me may be asking a lot, but students are asked to give a lot more than $100 per month. They are asked to give their hearts, souls, and very lives to Jesus Christ.
PRAISE THE LORD!

CeeCee, I totally know what you mean. When I had to fundraise for Jamaica I was scared out of my mind (and it was much less than what you have to fundraise)! Then I read the fundraising manual and it said exactly these things you wrote about. It totally pumped me up. Who am I to doubt what God can do? If God wants you to do something, all you can do is throw yourself in His hands and it'll work, no matter how hard and terrible it seems. That's what I did and it all turned out amazingly well.
You are going to be a GREAT missionary! People know that and will support you on your mission!
It's good to see that you're learning so much about yourself while learning to help others! If God has called you to this, then you're going to make a wonderful missionary, and I think you'll do great in changing people's lives for Him! One small thing for one person can cause a great change in the world! :)
i love you so much!
