Today marks the first birthday of my blog. I'm not sure really why I started it, but today I want to, about a year too late, talk about the blog's title, and what it means.
FIAT MIHI SECUNDUM VERBUM TUUM.
May it be done to me according to thy word.
Mary's FIAT is a resounding yes that echoes in the great no of Adam's silence. The past year, and lifetime, I have been making efforts to become like Mary. How can I say yes to God today and tomorrow? How can I become the woman I ought to be? I want to let my fiat be combined with Mary's beautiful fiat, and I want to change the world.
Honestly, I am not sure that this blog has really changed anything in the world but me. Still, I'm not sure that means the blog hasn't accomplished its purpose this past year. I want to incorporate fiat living into my life, but I am not completely there yet. I do know that remembering Mary's fiat and pledging to make my own I am reminded of the woman who I am called to be.
I've been looking for a while to find some theme or common pattern for my blog. I want it to make sense. My friends are so good about this. They have lists, daily accounts of God's presence, or efforts to bring culture to the uncultured as themes to tie their blogs together. My blog doesn't have a theme. The common thread isn't a pattern for posts. It's me. That's all. I'm living, and failing, at my fiat. And I'm letting, and failing at letting, you in.
So, Happy Birthday Fiat! May this year bring me, and you all, much closer to that perfect yes to the Lord.

I remember the first time I heard the "May it be done to me according to thy word" and it really impacted me. Woke me up to a lot of stuff I should be doing.
Even if the blog hasn't changed anything but you, that's still doing a good in the world, because it's changing you do do good things in other ways too. And you never know, I've found just trying to live and have people watching that has made a difference far more than me trying to make a difference. SO you may very well have made a huge difference to someone with your blog!
I HOPE the next year of it goes well!
CeeCee, in true Turklette-day style, I am thankful for your blog for many reasons:
1. The many prolific posts. I will now highlight some of my favorites:
-the post about our Christmas decorations, namely the latch-hook wreath on the fireplace.
- the write-up of our Australia adventure. "cheeky bull!"
-The half-blood Savrdas
-Waiting
-So Be It.
2. This blog inspired me to begin my own. Contrary to what you may believe, it wasn't just because I thought I could do it better (haha!) but because I wanted a way to connect to you, and I also saw an outlet to share my thoughts in a way that is better suited to my talents. And on that note...
3. It has allowed me to get to know you better, and a lot of the things you have posted here have inspired longer, in-person conversations.
4. We are slowly working on building up our blogosphere. I feel like this is a way for us to all share our faith and learn new things about each other-- community!
Happy Birthday, Fiat! May you have many more years ahead of you! I am so glad to be your sister blog. Let us blog words together on our knees! (To the tune of "let us break bread together on our knees!"...)
