Gah! I am trying to decide what camera to invest in. I want a digital SLR camera, but I am so confused about the choices: Canon, Nikon, Pentax...
I have read approximately 7,000 reviews and I still have no clear ideas about what I want other than a camera that allows me to take beautiful, high-quality, true-to-life images.
Do you take pictures? Do you own an SLR? Any thoughts, opinions, or advice?

I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I love it, though it is quite large. That's the general problem with SLR cameras-they're not something you carry around in a pocket. I've owned another Canon DSLR. I like them a lot.
Something to think about is whether the camera is full frame or not. This will affect the quality of the images as well as the lenses you ought to buy. Basically, all cameras that are not full frame will crop the image that comes in through the lens. Full frame cameras are larger and more expensive, though.
Some cameras have a built in flash while others will need a separate flash. Some lenses are so large that they will cast a shadow with built-in flashes.
Some DSLRs also take video, while others do not.
I use Nikons at work, and I really like them! (I use D70 and D80's) I'm not up with all the lingo, but I would say they take true-to-life pictures, and the camera will last(at work, they are used ALL the time, and I've never had a problem with the camera itself). It also has easy to change settings and a really easy to navigate menu. I don't have any other cameras to compare it with though, so I'm probably not much help. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll like it : )
